learning insight in NSTP

Capital N for national, S for service, T for training and P for program. NSTP, by just reading it’s definition one could conclude that this subject is for the deeper understanding of the word “countrymen”, and for the betterment of our beloved nation.
NSTP as what I heard according to some students is a tiring subject. You’ve got to cancel all your appointments during rest day because of the activities that is basically a part of NSTP like tree planting and stuffs. But what I appreciated about NSTP is that it offers individual the opportunity of being of help to others, especially those who are in need. It does not purely focuses on the present generation but to the conservation of the next generation. I as an NSTP student can proudly say that in my own little way, I contributed to the salvation of mother earth by just planting a tree. If there will be millions of students who will plant trees then one tree will become millions, even though we can’t restore mother earth but at least we can prevent it from total destruction. Let’s salvage what we can before it’s too late.
Our economy right now is not as healthy as it was before, where citizens don’t have to go abroad to finance their families here in the Philippines. That’s what we called “on practical basis”, but the disadvantage are pulling us down. All the excellent people go to abroad for financial security that our government can’t provide. NSTP 11, emphasizes the continuous patronage to our own nation will make a big change. No one can help us uproot Philippines from being a third world country except ourselves. Being a “makabayan” not just in mind but also in heart is what everyone should practice.
In order to do so, we have to hold hands and fight any injustice and corruption that our economy is suffering right now. But we should not forget that we should hate the sin made by that person not the person himself. That is the basic aspect of humanity. Everyone should believe that there is justice that will prevail in a peaceful and right manner. Killing is a big NO-NO; we don’t have the right to do so.
Every endeavor we face in our day to day struggle, we should face it with courage and honesty. And when you believe that you can do it, you really can do it. With the help of Our Almighty Father all impossible is possible. As for me, I would just smile at my biggest problem and say, “hey you! Don’t under-estimate me, I have a BIG GOD!”
All in all, it’s been a privilege to be enrolled in NSTP 11, although it’s tiring, but it helps me find time to not think of my academic troubles and stuff. It helps me ease the tension.

“My role as a student in the implementation of NSTP”

… promote the common good, conserve our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity, the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law …
Filipino people stands by what they believed are right and can result to the betterment of the society. NSTP is one proof that we cared. Giving students a chance to show what we can do, and how we can make a change to the problems that all the people are commonly dealing with, is one of the aims of the NSTP.
I do believe in what Dr. Jose P. Rizal said “KABATAAN ANG PAG-ASA NG BAYAN”, that’s not debatable, for we know that that is true. And as one of the entrusted youth, I have to take responsibility and be active in whatever things I can do with my ability to be of service not just to my fellow countrymen but to the nation.
GOOD EDUCATION: I am proud to be a Filipino citizen, for Filipinos are very different from the other race, kind, hospitable, and respectable.  As a student I can prove and I can show what I can do to help others specially those who are in need.
DRUG EDUCATION: Drug addicts, are very rampant nowadays, and it’s very sad to say that most of the population addicted to drugs are youth. We can’t blame anyone or them why they indulged in that thing, but we can still help them by giving them proper education and teaching them what drugs can do to their health, since I am a student, we can impart our knowledge to those who are lacking guidance and knowledge about this thing.
NATIONAL SECURITY: Not only those people carrying guns are responsible to stop possible crimes, even it is a small or big crime, we have to take part of it, even how little it just is to solve the problem or we prevent it in the least way we can do. That’s why we are sent to school to earn courage to face things and be educated of what is right and wrong, so why be scared?
ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION: Nothing is constant in this world except change. We are living on a changing world, from paradise to a world gradually becoming a wasteland. The paradise was left to us to be taken care of, not to be destroyed, but since we can’t undone the things that we had done in the past few millennia we can still prevent the total destruction that may happen, by supporting and be an active member of the CLEAN AND GREEN program of the government and do the things that can still save mother earth like putting the proper garbage in the proper trash can, planting of trees, etc.
DISASTER AWARENESS, PREPAREDNESS AND MANAGEMENT: As what I said earlier, we are changing in all aspects, and as we change the world change, and we suffer more violent reactions from mother earth, that’s why as early as now, a college freshmen, we should be prepared in whatever ways, cause we don’t know what will happen in the future or even in a little span of time.

my NSTP experience

Tiring yet FUN!
My expectations about NSTP before were indeed true…
Like just any other subject, NSTP started with lectures of its nature, what it is all about. But I do believe that talks without words are just nonsense … All that we had discussed must be applied, and that started the tiring yet fulfilling and fun NSTP adventure.
One best experience about NSTP is that we were given a chance to save mother earth in our own little way by just planting a tree at Malagos watershed areas.
The beginning of the community immersion started during the first semester to survey the location and to determine what project could help the community.
During the second semester whole new groups were made, since the whole BMLS first years were reshuffled and my old group mates were then distributed to different sections.  I was a former makakalikasan then became maka-Diyos.
Our location was changed and we started again and reviewed the previous reports on the site we’re assigned.  This semester got it all for one I should say … We did a lot of immersions, reports, reviews and lots and lots of stuffs, but on top of it our desire to provide the community of P-8 Malambuon a livelihood project, URBAN GARDENING.
We were able to equip ourselves with the confidence to gather funds to make the project visible in a way of donation envelopes and raffle tickets.
The busiest part of the project was the preparation for the seminar since it’s the start of the project implementation, the crucial part for if we fail, we have to start again from the beginning, and that would be another burden to our part, another obstacle to pass and graduate NSTP. But though unity and cooperation of the individuals we were satisfied and happy to the outcome of the seminar.
The reaction and response of the participants was very fulfilling especially when few of them actually told us these words… “THANK YOU!” It was worth a shot after all.
All our hard work and labor had produced wonderful fruits and were just so happy that a number of participants really made a lot of effort to make the project successful.
